What’s New: 2027 Ram Heavy Duty

The 2027 Ram Heavy Duty lineup builds on its reputation as one of the most capable and technologically advanced heavy-duty truck families on the market. With increased payload ratings, expanded equipment availability, new styling options, and the highly anticipated addition of the 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output turbo diesel to the Ram Power Wagon, the latest Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 models offer more capability than ever. Whether you’re shopping for a work truck, a heavy-duty towing machine, or an off-road pickup, the 2027 Ram Heavy Duty lineup delivers meaningful updates across the board.

Ram Power Wagon Gets Cummins High-Output Diesel Power

One of the biggest headlines for 2027 is that the Ram 2500 Power Wagon is now available with the legendary 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output turbo-diesel inline-six engine for the first time. Producing 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque, the Cummins HO is paired with a TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission, giving Power Wagon buyers exceptional low-end torque and towing capability while maintaining the truck’s legendary off-road performance.

For customers who prefer gasoline power, the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 remains available with 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. HEMI-equipped Power Wagon models also reintroduce an optional beadlock-capable wheel, making it easier for serious off-road enthusiasts to customize their truck for challenging terrain.

Best-in-Class Ram 2500 Payload Increases for 2027

Ram continues to improve the capability of its heavy-duty trucks with the introduction of a new Payload Upgrade Package for most Ram 2500 HEMI V8 models. The package increases the truck’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) from 10,000 pounds to 11,040 pounds, resulting in a best-in-class maximum payload of 4,580 pounds.

Available on Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Limited, and Limited Longhorn models, the package includes a Ram 3500 frame, upgraded leaf springs, and an anti-spin rear differential. With an MSRP of $835, it offers buyers additional hauling capability without moving up to a larger truck.

The Ram 3500 also receives increased capability. Select 4×4 single rear wheel Regular Cab and Crew Cab HEMI V8 models now offer a maximum GVWR of 11,440 pounds, increasing both GVWR and payload capacity by 400 pounds over the previous model year.

New Emergency Response Vehicle Expands the Ram Heavy Duty Lineup

Fleet customers now have an all-new option with the introduction of the Ram 2500 Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV). As Ram’s first pursuit-capable three-quarter-ton truck, the ERV expands the brand’s commercial offerings for emergency services and specialized fleet applications.

More Standard and Standalone Equipment Choices

Ram is giving customers greater flexibility by making several popular features available without requiring larger equipment packages.

The Sport Appearance Package and Night Edition Package are now available with both Level 1 and Level 2 equipment groups. Buyers can also order the aggressive sport performance hood as a standalone option on Rebel and Power Wagon models, as well as on Big Horn trucks equipped with either the Night Edition or Sport Appearance Package.

For off-road enthusiasts, the available Warn electric winch can now be ordered separately on HEMI-powered Rebel and Power Wagon models without requiring the Level 1 Equipment Group. Additionally, Tradesman buyers can now select an anti-spin rear differential as a standalone option.

Laramie models also gain expanded RamBox availability along with newly available body-color fender flares for a more premium appearance.

New Exterior Styling and Colors

Every 2027 Ram Heavy Duty equipped with the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 receives a new Symbol of Protest V8 fender badge. Trucks such as the Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Rebel, Power Wagon, and Night Edition models feature a distinctive Satin Black version of the badge.

Two new exterior paint colors also join the lineup with late availability: Serrano Green Metallic and Tank Clear-Coat, giving buyers additional ways to personalize their truck.

Impressive Ram Heavy Duty Towing and Payload Ratings

The 2027 Ram Heavy Duty lineup continues to offer outstanding towing and hauling capability across multiple configurations.

The Ram 2500 HEMI V8 delivers up to 17,740 pounds of maximum towing and 4,580 pounds of maximum payload. Buyers choosing the Cummins High-Output diesel can tow up to 20,000 pounds with a maximum payload of 3,990 pounds.

The Ram 3500 HEMI V8 offers up to 18,140 pounds of towing and 7,580 pounds of payload, while the Ram 3500 Cummins High-Output diesel leads the lineup with an impressive 37,020 pounds of maximum towing and 6,460 pounds of payload.

These preliminary capability figures reinforce Ram’s position as a leader for customers who regularly tow heavy trailers or haul substantial loads.

Advanced Technology for Work and Everyday Driving

The 2027 Ram Heavy Duty continues to deliver one of the most advanced interiors in the segment. Available technology includes the largest-in-class 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a segment-first 10.25-inch passenger display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an available digital rearview mirror.

Ram also offers class-exclusive dual wireless phone charging, multiple connectivity ports, and a long list of advanced towing technologies. Available features include Trailer Reverse Steering Control, Blind-spot Monitoring with Trailer Tow Detection, Trailer Tow Pages, power-folding and power-telescoping trailer mirrors, and a digital rearview mirror with Tow Mode.

Off-Road Capability Remains a Ram Strength

Ram continues to offer one of the broadest selections of heavy-duty off-road trucks in the segment. The value-oriented Warlock, versatile Rebel, and iconic Power Wagon provide buyers with multiple options depending on their needs and budget.

The Ram 2500 also continues to feature its segment-exclusive five-link coil rear suspension and available automatic-leveling rear air suspension, helping deliver exceptional ride quality, improved load leveling, and greater off-road capability. The Ram 3500 continues with its durable Hotchkiss leaf spring rear suspension while offering an exclusive supplemental air suspension system.

Configurations and Trim Levels

The 2027 Ram Heavy Duty lineup remains available in multiple cab and bed configurations, including Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab models with both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains.

Buyers can choose from a wide range of trims, including Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited, and Limited Longhorn, allowing customers to tailor their truck for commercial work, towing, luxury, or off-road adventure.
